There is no fee to enter the lottery, but if you are selected, you will need to pay the mandatory green card application fees which is only $10.
Here are some other things to know about the DV lottery:
The DV program only opens registration for a limited period of time each fiscal year.
You can only submit one entry per person. If you submit multiple entries, all of them will be disqualified.
You must carefully follow the State Department's official lottery instructions. Entries and digital photos that don't conform to the instructions will be disqualified.
Once your application is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email that you can use to know if the you are selected
The principal DV applicant must have a high school education, or its equivalent, or two years of qualifying work experience.

You will need your unique confirmation email to know the status of your entry, and you will need it to get further instructions or schedule an interview for a visa if you are selected. There is no cost to register for the DV Program.
